Social Worker III

Person County Government is recruiting for a Social Worker III in the Adult Protective Services and Guardianship Services Unit at the Department of Social Services. The Adult Protective Services social worker will evaluate reports of abuse, neglect and exploitation of persons age 18 years and older and is disabled.  This worker will implement treatment service plans as needed.  If the report does not meet the criteria for Adult Protective Services, this worker may offer Outreach Services to the adult named in the report. The worker in this position acts as the Guardianship / designee for persons adjudicated incompetent on behalf of the DSS Director. Adult Protective Services and Guardianship law and policy as outlined in the Family Services Manual serve as a framework for carrying out responsibilities.  Court orders and medical and psychological assessments are also used as guides in decision-making.
