Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities: This position is available for service emergencies for non-office hours and is a member of a social work team. The main function of the position is to receive referrals for child protective services, evaluate these referrals in relation to NC law, and initiate assessments and/or intervention as is necessary.Initial complaints of abuse, neglect and dependency are assessed in order to protect the child in accordance with the General Statutes of the State of North Carolina. The assessment process is aimed at strengthening family life by supporting and enhancing families to ensure every child a safe and nurturing environment.
Qualifications: Thorough knowledge of social work principles, techniques and practices and their applications to complex casework, treatment and investigation of abuse or neglect or children; thorough knowledge of policies and procedures as evidenced by the ability to cite the authority of federal and state law; thorough knowledge and individual and group behavior, family dynamics and medical, behavioral and/or psychosocial problems and their treatment theory. Considerable knowledge of governmental and private organizations and resources in the community.
MSW from an accredited school of social work plus the Child Welfare Collaborative; or a MSW from an accredited school of social work plus one year of directly related experience; or a BSW from an accredited school of social work with the Child Welfare Collaborative plus one year of experience; or a BSW from an accredited school of social work with two years of experience; or a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a counseling field and two years of social work or counseling; or a four-year degree in a human services or related curriculum and three years’ experience; or graduation from a four-year accredited college or university and four years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
