Job Description

General Statement of Duties

The Department of Social Services is seeking a highly self-motivated, skilled professional to provide administrative and technical oversight for the Client Services Area, including Customer Care Teams 1 & 2, the Call Center, and the Hearing officer. This position ensures compliance with Food and Nutrition, Energy, Childcare, and WorkFirst policies and practice standards regarding case management services, day sheet coding, and ongoing program development. The Program Manager is responsible for providing leadership and management for Economic Services within the Forsyth County Department of Social Services. * This position is being re-advertised.  All applicants are still being considered.  If you have already applied for this position, then resubmitting an application is not necessary to be considered. *  

Distinguishing Features

 
  • The desired candidate will work on a managerial team and provide direct oversight of supervisors of various Program areas, including but not limited to Childcare, Energy, Food and Nutrition, Work First, and Client Services.
  •  The desired candidate can demonstrate superior communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • The desired candidate will identify programming and staffing needs and ensure policies, regulations, and standards are implemented.
  • The desired candidate will be able to analyze trends to assist the Division Director in developing continuous quality improvement standards.
  • The desired candidate will have a working knowledge of NCFAST Functionality and provide supportive supervision and monitoring to ensure compliance with all mandated standards.
  • The desired candidate will also provide stellar interpersonal skills to support and create effective community partnerships and build upon a positive organizational culture within the Division.
 

Minimum Education and Experience

Graduation from college with a four-year degree is preferred. A higher education level may be considered as a substitution for all or part of the experience requirement. A high school diploma or high school diploma equivalent plus additional years of relevant experience may also be considered. Minimum of high school degree and 5 years' experience in a human services role, including 2 years of supervisory experience; or 4-year degree and 3 years' experience in a human services role, including one year of supervisory experience. Experience with NC FAST and eligibility determination preferred. Must have a valid driver's license.

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of the methods and principles of Economic Services, supervision, performance management, leadership, and training.
  • The candidate must also be proficient in Childcare, Work First, Energy, and Client Services demands and policies.
  • The candidate must have the ability to express and communicate ideas concisely and professionally, in addition to the ability to collect, analyze, and utilize data to support performance management.
  • The candidate must demonstrate ongoing action planning and execution of work effectively.
