Position: Income Maintenance Supervisor II – Family & Children’s Medicaid Unit
Position #5310-403-23, Permanent Full-time
Salary: Grade 69 $50,946 - $72,696 if qualified for IMS-II
Grade 67 $46,830 - $65,865 if qualified for IMS-I
(up to 12-month work against to IMS-II position)

JOB DUTIES:
Employee will provide supervision and management of a Family and Children’s Medicaid unit in the Economic Services section of the Department of Social Services. This position will be responsible for ensuring that the assigned unit meets or exceeds the quality and timeliness standards determined by Federal and State policy and local standards. Employee plans, organizes and directs workflow and tasks for subordinate Income Maintenance Caseworker I and Income Maintenance Caseworker II employees. Duties include determining individual and unit training needs, providing on-the-job training for new employees, supervising training efforts and evaluating the effectiveness of training. Employee performs personnel evaluations and prepares monthly unit progress reports utilizing state and local computer systems and software. Position is responsible for insuring that unit staff complies with program, agency, county, state, OSHA, ADA and Civil Rights policies, procedures, laws and directives.
Employee is required to open or assist in the operation of a community shelter in the event of an emergency.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Thorough understanding of all income maintenance programs, forms and documents used in determining eligibility. Considerable, detailed knowledge of the regulations and policies set forth in the following North Carolina program manuals: Family and Children’s Medicaid, Food and Nutrition Services, Adult Medicaid and Special Assistance. Demonstrated skill in the NC FAST system and ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office suite. General knowledge of all programs and services offered by the agency as well as other local community resources. Ability to elicit information, explain programs / processes and develop rapport with staff and administration. Ability to apply exceptional reasoning and strong interpersonal skills along with the ability to exercise sound judgment and work independently with limited supervision. Ability to exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills.
RECRUITMENT STANDARDS:
Minimum Training and Experience Requirements for IMS-II
Three years of experience as a caseworker or investigator in an income maintenance program, preferably with one year of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Minimum Training and Experience Requirements for IMS-I (12-month work against)
Two years of experience as a caseworker or investigator in an income maintenance program, preferably with one year of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
