INCOME MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN Position # 591304                                                         Salary Range:       $33,738 - $53,325 Primary Purpose of Position: The major purpose of this position is to provide to provide administrative services to Pitt County citizens. This position will be responsible logging, forwarding and/or transferring returned checks, Medicaid cards and other items of value received at the Human Services Center.  This position will also serve as a backup for the Front Desk Reception area when the assigned worker is on vacation, sick leave or other absenteeism.  The position also distributes all agency mail. This position will also key in Walk-In clients, Mail-In applications, and electronic applications on the Intake Log and forward to the appropriate supervisor(s). This position will be responsible for the issuance of fishing permits. Fishing permits will be required for anyone 16 years or older using any type of bait while fishing in North Carolina's public waters.  Anyone receiving Food and Nutrition Services, Medicaid, or Work First Family Assistance will be able to obtain a waiver from this new fishing license requirement at their county Department of Social Services. This position accepts, stamps, copies and distributes mail and correspondence that is left for staff members. This position accepts and processes applications for the Low-Income Energy Assistance Program. This position will be required to man emergency shelters in the event of a natural or manmade disaster. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  Good mathematical reasoning and computational skills. Ability to communicate with clients, applicants, and the public to obtain data, and to explain rules and procedures. Ability to understand the needs and problems of clients/applicants. Ability to learn the program area of assignment. Minimum Education and Experience:  Graduation from high school and two years of paraprofessional or clerical public contact experience which should have included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, gathering and compiling of data, analysis of data, and/or the performance of mathematical or legal tasks; or graduation from high school and one year of experience in an income maintenance program; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Career Readiness (CRC) and NC FAST Certificate are preferred. Valid North Carolina driver's license required. Bilinguals encouraged to apply.
