Job Description

Job Purpose The primary duty of this position is that of reception, and customer service.   This position is the first point of contact for customers, community partners, general public, as well as the DSS staff, other agencies, state, and regional representatives calling or visiting the agency.  Being resourceful in gathering and giving program information, referring customers and phone calls to the appropriate staff, and the ability to multi-task is essential.   Other duties may be assigned to the employee when deemed necessary.  This employee must have the ability to interact with people with courtesy and tact in performing public contact duties, and be able to work in a team environment. Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of functions that include reception, agency-wide switchboard, one on one customer services, and other general administrative tasks; such as scanning, coping, distributing mail.
  • Maintain high level of professionalism and to conduct business in an ethical manner at all times
  • Detect need for other agency services and make appropriate referrals
  • Use a variety of office equipment and systems
  • Effectively communicate with customers and the general public
  • Gather and give information and instructions regarding the work process and procedures
  • Record and compile information based on general guidelines
Skills & Abilities Education & Experience:  High School Diploma or equivalent required with one or more years of secretarial or office style experience preferred. Excellent customer service skills required. Computer Skills:  Prior experience with Microsoft Windows, Proficient in typing accurately and fast paced. Expectations of operating a variety of typical office equipment successfully (telephone, fax, scanner, printer, etc..) License/Credentials: Possession of a valid NC driver's license and access to a personal vehicle. Bilingual in Spanish (written and oral), preferred.
