Job Description

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Master’s degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of directly related experience; or a bachelor’s degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of directly related experience; or a master’s degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of directly related experience; or a bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of directly related experience; or a bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The primary purpose of this position is to provide administrative support, leadership, and supervision to a team of child welfare social workers in the In Home and Foster Care services unit. Provides social work services to protect children from abuse, neglect, or dependency as mandated by Chapter 7B of the North Carolina General Statues and related rules and policy provided by the NCDHHS. Functions as a unit supervisor with duties that include planning, organizing, training, setting work standards, reviewing work, counseling and disciplining within the assigned area. Employee assigns cases to subordinates, coordinates workflow operations, and supervises staff through case review and consultation which requires the provision of substantial and recurring technical direction.  The supervisor will assess all social work interventions to ensure they comply with state laws and federal mandates and ensure that children and families receive supportive services and achieve quality outcomes. This includes ensuring supervision related to child safety and decreasing risks to the organization related to decision-making. This position provides high-quality coaching and supervision as well as ensuring adherence to law, rule, and policy.  This position builds partnerships with community agencies, participates in court proceedings, plans, and facilitates the work of the unit, shares on-call supervision with other supervisors, and interacts with families being served. Participates on the agency’s management team to facilitate the provision of quality services to clients.  Employee must possess superior organizational skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and be able to demonstrate a commitment to quality service provision in all activities.
