About this Opportunity
Social Worker III – Second Shift provides late afternoon and evening coverage for both Adult and Child Protective Services.  This position does not carry a caseload and is responsible for assisting with courtesy requests, initiating cases, and family/collateral contacts.  The schedule is Tuesday through Friday from 2:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Job responsibilities include:
  • Conduct face-to-face interviews with children and adults on new and existing cases
  • Complete safety and risk assessments
  • Complete timely and concise documentation
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of child welfare policies and legal mandates
  • Knowledge of social work and practices and principles (particularly strengths-based)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Assessments Skills
  • Communication Skills (oral and written)
  • Organizational Skills
  • Critical thinking Skills
There will be a significant amount of time spent in family homes and in the community.  Must be available to work during emergency situations. This position holds the opportunity to telework on a partial basis, where the employee will occasionally start the workday from home and report directly to the job site throughout the day.  Certain meetings or trainings will require the employee to come into the office.  The ideal candidate for this position is a self-starter with strong communication skills and is proficient in modern office technology to perform work duties. Education and Experience
  • Master's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work; or
  • Bachelor's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work and completion of the Child Welfare Collaborative (Child Welfare positions only); or
  • Bachelor's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work and one year directly related experience; or
  • Master's degree in a human services field and one year of directly related experience; or
  • Bachelor's degree in a human services field from an accredited college or university and two years directly related experience; or
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three years of directly related experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Must be physically able to operate a variety of office equipment.  Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pound of force frequently, or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
