Job Description

The Family Justice Center of Alamance County is in search of a Victim Liaison. This position will serve as the portal of entry and contact for clients who have initially accessed services through law enforcement and wish to seek other services. The Liaison will assist clients with receiving services and obtaining referrals for support and assistance, including the judicial system, as well as develop systems to connect clients with FJC services. Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities: Thorough knowledge of victim service principles, techniques and best practices and their applications to complex casework, treatment, and investigation. Extensive knowledge of governmental and private organizations and resources in the community. Ability to establish a supportive relationship in the initial assessment for services; ability to quickly assess the risks and safety of the client; ability to employ expert negotiation skills in the most complex cases; ability to analyze and assess child development safety issues in relation to risk factors; ability to analyze high-risk situations and make decisions with limited access to consultation; ability to communicate effectively and establish supportive client relationships. Experience working with victims of domestic violence is preferred. Knowledge of best practices relating to family violence which includes identification, safety, and confidentiality. Skill in problem solving, decision making, and conflict resolution. Ability to work effectively under high pressure circumstances and manage crisis and emergency situations. Must be sensitive to the needs of people and able to carry a leadership role. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be receptive to new ideas. Is professional and responsible about all aspects of work. Has ability to maintain effective working relationships with other center professionals and to be cooperative in handling referrals. Promotes teamwork, is cooperative, collaborative and handles delicate situations tactfully. Maintains poise and self-control even under extreme stress and unexpected crises. Is appropriately assertive even in difficult situations. Maintains personal appearance consistent with center standards. Assumes responsibility for own learning. Minimum Training and Experience Requirements:  Master's degree from an accredited school of social work (Child Welfare Collaborative),  Master’s degree from an accredited school of social work and one year of social work experience; a bachelor's degree from an accredited school of social  work (Child Welfare Collaborative) plus one year social work or counseling experience ;  or a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of social work and two years of social work or counseling experience; or Master’s degree in a counseling field and two years of social work or counseling experience; or a four-year degree in a human services field or related curriculum and three years of social work or counseling experience; or graduation from a four-year college or university and four years of experience in rehabilitation counseling, pastoral counseling or a related human service field providing experience in the techniques of casework, group work or community organization; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.  Experience in law enforcement a plus.
